WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — As June marks Men’s Health Month, President Dr. Buu Nygren encourages men and boys across the Navajo Nation to take proactive steps toward improving their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The annual observance serves as a reminder that many of the leading causes of illness can be prevented through regular medical care, healthy lifestyle choices, and open conversations about mental health.
Men’s Health Month emphasizes the importance of routine checkups, preventive screenings, and early detection of conditions such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and prostate and colorectal cancers. Health experts also stress the need to address mental health, as men are often less likely to seek help despite experiencing higher rates of depression and suicide.
“Strong families begin with healthy fathers, grandfathers, brothers, and sons,” said President Buu Nygren. “Taking care of your health is an act of strength and responsibility. I encourage every man to schedule a wellness check, stay active, eat nutritious foods, and never hesitate to seek support when facing physical or emotional challenges.”
The Navajo Nation remains committed to expanding access to quality healthcare and promoting wellness initiatives that help every Diné family thrive for generations to come.
