MEXICAN WATER — Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren joined community members, families, and health advocates on the evening of June 25 at the Mexican Water Chapter House for another energizing Just Move It (JMI) event, promoting healthy lifestyles, fitness, and community wellness across the Navajo Nation.

Hosted as part of the Shiprock Service Unit’s Just Move It program, the evening walk brought together participants of all ages for an opportunity to stay active while enjoying the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Earlier rainfall left the course cool and refreshing, creating the perfect setting for an evening of movement and fellowship.

With much of the Navajo Nation receiving much-needed rainfall after weeks of summer heat and dry conditions, the evening also served as a reminder to be thankful for the blessings of rain that nourish the land, support livestock and plants, and bring relief to communities across Diné Bikéyah.

“The cool evening made this walk even more enjoyable,” said President Nygren. “Every Just Move It event reminds us that taking care of our health doesn’t have to be complicated. It starts with getting outside, moving together, encouraging one another, and building healthier habits that benefit ourselves, our families, and our communities.”

Throughout the event, the Just Move It staff created an upbeat and welcoming atmosphere, motivating participants with encouragement, positive energy, and smiles that made fitness both enjoyable and accessible for everyone.

Just Move It continues to inspire Navajo families to make physical activity a regular part of daily life while strengthening community connections. Whether walking, running, or simply spending time outdoors together, every step supports better physical, mental, and emotional health.

The next Just Move It events on June 30 will take place at:

Window Rock Fairgrounds (Fort Defiance Unit)
Kayenta Recreation Park (Kayenta Unit)
Cedar Ridge (Tuba City Unit)
Four Corners Regional Health Center (Shiprock Unit)
