ANETH — On June 25, Navajo Nation President Nygren visited an Aneth homeowner whose life has been transformed through access to running water, highlighting the lasting impact that essential infrastructure brings to Navajo families.
President Nygren was joined by staff from the Aneth Chapter House and representatives from the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA), who visited the home to celebrate the successful completion of the family’s waterline project and witness firsthand the difference it has made.
The homeowner submitted his waterline application in November 2024. Following engineering reviews and planning, construction of the waterline was completed in October 2025, with water service officially activated in December 2025.
Although the home was located approximately 150 feet from an existing waterline, a feasibility study was conducted to collect measurements, evaluate water pressure, and analyze material requirements to ensure the project met engineering standards and would provide reliable service for years to come.
“Access to clean, reliable water changes lives,” said President Nygren. “Visiting families like this reminds us why we continue investing in infrastructure that strengthens our communities and improves the quality of life for our people. Every home connected represents progress and hope for future generations.”
The family’s connection is part of NTUA’s broader effort to expand waterline infrastructure throughout the Aneth area under an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)-funded initiative. The project is improving system reliability while connecting more Navajo homes to dependable water service.
One of the most memorable moments of the visit came when the homeowner warmly welcomed everyone into his home and shared his gratitude through music. A lifelong Elvis Presley fan, he delighted guests by singing two classic songs, “Suspicious Minds” and “A Mess of Blues.” His enthusiasm, hospitality, and appreciation made the visit especially meaningful and served as a reminder that access to running water is about more than infrastructure—it is about restoring comfort, dignity, and opportunity for Navajo families.
President Nygren thanked NTUA, the Aneth Chapter House, and everyone involved in helping bring water service to homes across the region, reaffirming the Navajo Nation’s commitment to expanding critical infrastructure so more families can experience the same life-changing benefits.
