Under President Nygren’s Administration, significant investments have been made to expand educational opportunities for Navajo students, support workforce development, strengthen higher education partnerships, improve access to technology, and preserve Diné language and culture for future generations.

One of the administration’s key accomplishments was the establishment of the Yideeskaadi Nitsáhákees Scholarship in partnership with the Navajo Nation Oil and Gas Company, creating new opportunities for Navajo students pursuing advanced business degrees. The administration also renewed partnerships with the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine and the James E. Rogers College of Law to help develop future Navajo veterinarians and attorneys who will serve communities across the Navajo Nation.

To support workforce development and higher education opportunities, the administration prevented more than $9 million in federal funding from reverting back to the federal government. Those resources continue to support scholarships, tuition assistance, job training, and technical education programs that help Navajo students and workers build successful careers.

The administration has also invested in early childhood education by expanding Early Head Start opportunities and securing $24.2 million for improvements to childcare facilities. At the same time, efforts to expand fiber internet connectivity to schools, libraries, chapter houses, and Head Start programs are helping ensure students have access to the technology and educational resources needed to succeed.

Preserving Diné Bizaad remains an important focus. The administration established Diné Bizaad Teachers Day to recognize educators who are helping preserve and pass on the Navajo language to future generations.

While more work remains ahead, these accomplishments reflect a commitment to creating pathways for success and expanding educational opportunities for Navajo students across the Navajo Nation.
