ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Rehoboth Christian Lynx concluded an outstanding season as the runner-up in the 2026 Nusenda Credit Union Class 2A New Mexico State Boys Basketball Championship, falling to the No. 1 seeded Texico Wolverines 58–46 at The Pit in Albuquerque, N.M.
The championship featured the No. 6 seed Rehoboth Lynx (24–6 overall, 9–1 district) led by Head Coach Kevin Zwiers, facing the No. 1 seed Texico Wolverines (29–2 overall, 10–0 district) under Head Coach Craig Cook.
Rehoboth entered the title game after an impressive postseason run filled with major wins and momentum. The Lynx advanced to the championship by defeating No. 3 Mesa Vista in the quarterfinals and No. 2 Pecos in the semifinals, showing resilience, determination, and the ability to compete with some of the top teams in Class 2A.
In the championship game, Texico built an early lead and carried that momentum through much of the night. Rehoboth continued to battle, showing toughness and effort on both ends of the floor, and kept competing until the final buzzer. The Lynx closed out the season with a strong performance on the state’s biggest stage.
President Nygren congratulated the Rehoboth Lynx on their outstanding season and recognized the team for proudly representing the Navajo Nation throughout their playoff run.
“We want to congratulate the Rehoboth Lynx on finishing as the 2026 Class 2A State Runner-Up,” said President Nygren. “The Navajo Nation was proudly represented by the Rehoboth team throughout this season and especially during their strong playoff run. Reaching the state championship and defeating top-ranked teams along the way is a major accomplishment, and we are proud of the heart and determination this team showed.”
President Nygren also extended congratulations to the Texico Wolverines on their championship victory and acknowledged the sportsmanship shown by both teams.
“Congratulations to the Texico Wolverines on winning the state championship,” President Nygren said. “Both teams competed with effort, respect, and strong sportsmanship on one of the biggest stages in New Mexico high school basketball.”
The Rehoboth Lynx finish the season with an impressive 24–6 overall record, capping off a memorable year for the program and a playoff run that earned statewide respect.
