GLENDALE – Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren was invited to attend the 2nd annual Navajo Song and Dance, sponsored by the Language and Culture team from the Phoenix Indian Center, and held on February 28, at Glendale High School.

He was joined by Navajo Nation First Lady Jasmine Blackwater-Nygren and Miss Navajo Nation Camille Uentillie.

The event brought together community members to honor Navajo language, song, and dance, with a special focus on the importance of cultural continuity for urban Navajo families. Guided by the theme, “Nihizaad dóó nihe’í’ool’įįł t’áá náásgóó yit’ih dooleeł,” the gathering reflected a strong commitment to preserving tradition while strengthening identity beyond the reservation.

President Nygren expressed his appreciation for the event.

“I am deeply grateful to see our traditions respected and celebrated within our urban Navajo communities,” he said. “Events like this ensure that our language and cultural practices continue to live on, connecting our people to who we are, no matter where we reside.”
