The third annual Navajo Nation Robotics Regional Competition will take place on February 7 at Monument Valley High in Kayenta, Ariz., bringing together young innovators from across the Nation.
Navajo Nation Robotics is a dynamic STEM initiative that empowers Native youth through hands-on learning, creative problem-solving, and competitive robotics. Programs like Rezbotics give students the chance to design, build, and program robots to tackle real-world engineering challenges, while simultaneously developing coding, engineering, and teamwork skills.
Winners at the regional competition will advance to the FIRST Championship (Worlds), a premier international youth STEM event held annually at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas from April 29 to May 2, 2026. The event provides students with opportunities to showcase their talents on national and international stages.
Participation in robotics not only prepares youth for college and careers in high-demand industries, but also strengthens confidence, cultural pride, and representation for Navajo students.
“These programs give our youth the tools to dream bigger and achieve more,” said Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren. “Through robotics and STEM, our students are learning the skills of the future while celebrating their heritage and showing the world the incredible talent within our communities.”
Event Highlights:
– Witness STEM in action as robots compete live on the field
– Enjoy food, community connections, and meet engineers
– Support your local school robotics teams
– An exciting day of innovation, learning, and celebration of Navajo youth achievements in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
President Nygren encourages all to support our young students!
