We proudly recognize and honor Mr. Rex Kontz for his remarkable 39 years of dedicated service to the Navajo Nation through the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority.
Mr. Kontz’ career reflects a true lifetime commitment to public service and the well-being of our Diné people. With more than 20 years spent serving as Deputy General Manager, his leadership played a vital role in expanding essential infrastructure across the Navajo Nation. Bringing electricity, water, gas, wastewater services, and fiber connectivity to communities across the reservation.
Before his time with NTUA, Mr. Kontz also served with Indian Health Service’s Office of Environmental Health continuing his mission of improving the quality of life for others. The work he was put in has left a lasting impact —seen in every home connected, every family served, and every community strengthened.
We recognize that behind 39 years of service are countless sacrifices, long hours, and unwavering dedication. His efforts have directly supported the mission of ensuring that no Navajo family is left without access to essential services, no matter how remote.
On behalf of the Navajo Nation, we extend our deepest appreciation for Mr. Kontz’s leadership, commitment, and lasting legacy.
As he enters this next chapter, we wish him a retirement filled with good health, peace, and meaningful time with family. His legacy will continue to inspire the ongoing work of building stronger communities and brighter futures for generations to come—truly “lighting up Navajo.”
