Last night I attended the Rodeo Night One Performance. The Dean C. Jackson Arena was blessed with rain that our fearless cowboys and cowgirls shined through.
Despite the rain, rodeo fans gathered at the stands wrapped in rain coats, blankets, sat underneath umbrellas and watched with pride.
The night showcased bull riding, barrel racing, bareback, saddle bronc, tie down roping, steer wrestling, break away, team roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.
Many fans cheered for our Navajo teams, while the night roared with upbeat music, comedy and entertainment.
Attending rodeos is not only for our own entertainment, but to keep rodeo culture alive, especially when it comes to supporting our Navajo youth.
The culture of rodeo uplifts their spirits as they compete in this sport while carrying our Navajo teachings of taking care of livestock.
I look forward to watching the next couple of rounds. Good luck to our Navajo cowboys and cowgirls as they represent the Nation in the sport!
