WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – The Navajo Nation has awarded a $49,000 Small Project Contract to Little Foot Construction, LLC for improvements to the Becenti Chapter Multipurpose Building in Becenti, New Mexico, marking another step toward strengthening community infrastructure and enhancing services for local residents.
“Our chapter houses and community buildings are the heart of local government and community life across the Navajo Nation,” said President Nygren. “Investments like this help ensure that residents have safe, functional spaces to access services, participate in community events, and engage in local decision-making.”
The project will support upgrades to the multipurpose facility to improve building security, energy efficiency, and reduce energy consumption. The building serves as an important gathering place for meetings, programs, and public services. Construction activities will begin upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed and are expected to be completed within 365 calendar days.
Under the contract, 25 percent of the project funding will be released upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed to support material procurement, labor scheduling, and mobilization. The remaining balance will be paid following project completion and final acceptance.
The agreement includes strict accountability measures to protect Navajo Nation resources, including performance and payment bond requirements, insurance coverage, warranty provisions, audit rights, and compliance with Navajo Nation laws and regulations. The contractor is required to maintain project records for five years after final payment and provide a one-year warranty on all labor, materials, and equipment.
The project reflects the Navajo Nation’s ongoing commitment to improving community infrastructure and supporting chapter governments through strategic investments that enhance quality of life for residents.
Construction is anticipated to conclude before September 30, 2027, unless modified through approved contract provisions.
