WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — ‘Home of the Navajo PRCA Rodeo’ at the Dean C. Jackson Memorial Arena, the Navajo Nation welcomes the Diné public and visitors for its annual rodeo event from Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June 1.

The weekend will feature the popular rodeo, carnival, and evening cultural dances

hosted by the Navajo Nation Fair Office. The event is one of two major annual rodeos, alongside the Navajo Nation Fair.

The rodeo, previously held over the Fourth of July weekend, the PRCA Weekend, has since been rescheduled to avoid those conflicts.

This year’s competition includes 54 Navajo contestants — 15 cowgirls and 41 cowboys.

Cervi Championship Rodeo is the stock contractor and will provide top PRCA stock, including Womanizer and R. Watson’s Ed Bishop.

Native Land Insurance LLC is sponsoring youth events, including Wooly Riding and Jr. Barrel Racing for girls ages 12 and under. Age divisions are 0–6, 7–9, and 10–12.

Wooly Riding will take place during the preshow, and junior barrel racing will follow the pro women’s event.

All tickets are digital and available at tickets.nnfair.org or can be bought at the gate. Vendor spaces are sold out!

All animals entering the event must have valid Navajo Nation Department of Agriculture animal health papers.

Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren envisions a growing Navajo economy that embraces cultural ways of life, including farming and ranching, with this PRCA event.

“As President, when I honor our sovereignty and make choices to better our livelihoods, it includes our ranchers, farmers, cowboys, and cowgirls,” President Nygren said. “This rodeo does extremely well by giving back to our Navajo people and creating an economy that our Navajo people rely on for their livelihoods.”
