WHITECONE, Ariz. – Community members, veterans, and families gathered at the Whitecone Veteran Center on Memorial Day for a meaningful event hosted by the Whitecone Veterans Organization to remember and honor fallen Diné veteran warriors.
The event included a flag raising by Whitecone Veterans, along with the unfolding and refolding of flags by WCVO Veterans and Tewa Veterans, creating a moment of reflection, respect, and remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their people and country.
Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren attended the event and shared words honoring the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of fallen warriors whose service continues to inspire future generations.
Memorial Day serves as a reminder of the deep respect held for Diné servicemen and women who answered the call to serve and never returned home. Across the Navajo Nation, families and communities continue to carry forward their memory, prayers, and legacy with pride and gratitude.
The Whitecone Veterans Organization Memorial Day event brought the community together in unity to honor those who gave their lives in service and to ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.
