To the Ganado community members and surrounding communities,

The current Ganado Post Office is unsafe, and the postal service officials have stated that it is expected to move operations to St. Michaels sometime this month due to the building’s condition.

I want to be very clear: I do not want to see the Ganado Post Office shut down. I have instructed my staff to take every measure necessary to ensure it remains open. At the same time, the safety of the post office is a top priority.

I am aware of the delays surrounding the construction of the new post office in Ganado, and I understand the concern, frustration, and fear that rumors have caused in the community. This matter was raised at a recent leadership meeting, and my Administration has taken direct action. All involved departments have been instructed to work collaboratively and urgently to move this project forward. Oversight and logistics have been reassigned, and my office will closely monitor progress through the appropriate division.

The postal service is more than a building—it is a lifeline for elders, families, businesses, and the entire community. I will not allow misinformation, delays, or non-cooperation to jeopardize access to these essential services. We remain in direct contact with the appropriate divisions and departments to ensure the Ganado Post Office stays in Ganado and that construction moves forward without further delay.
