NAVAJO MOUNTAIN, Utah – Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren joined community leaders, broadband partners, and local stakeholders to celebrate a major milestone in expanding broadband connectivity for Navajo Mountain and surrounding communities. During the event, he emphasized the importance of ensuring rural communities are not left behind as technology continues to shape education, healthcare, public safety, and economic development.
Nygren thanked the school, healthcare clinic, project partners, and community leaders who remained committed to the project despite numerous challenges. He noted that the collaboration between educators, healthcare providers, the Navajo Nation Broadband Office, state agencies, and private partners demonstrates what can be achieved when organizations work together toward a common goal.
He highlighted ongoing efforts across the Navajo Nation to improve internet access through investments in fiber infrastructure, wireless networks, and future broadband expansion projects. Reliable connectivity, he said, creates new opportunities for students, healthcare workers, businesses, and families while helping communities stay connected to essential services and information.
The discussion also focused on the impact of broadband on education, including the success of local students participating in robotics and technology programs. Access to modern technology and resources, Nygren said, helps prepare young people to compete and succeed both within the Navajo Nation and beyond.
Broadband expansion is also strengthening public safety and emergency response capabilities in rural communities. Looking ahead, the Navajo Nation will continue working with federal, state, tribal, and local partners to expand critical infrastructure and increase access to reliable internet service.
Nygren concluded by expressing gratitude to everyone involved in the project and reaffirmed the Navajo Nation’s commitment to creating opportunities, improving connectivity, and building a stronger future for generations to come.
