Ya’at’eeh! I was not able to attend the Navajo Nation Council’s 2025 Spring Session. I have submitted my State of the Navajo Nation report, along with a detailed 167-page report from the Navajo Nation Executive Branch.
I was in Washington, D.C., engaging in important discussions with federal partners that are vital to the interests of our communities. This trip underscores my commitment to working collaboratively, regardless of political affiliation—be it Republican or Democratic—to advocate for our Nation’s needs and priorities.
In alignment with the requirements outlined in Title 2 of the Navajo Nation Code, I have fulfilled my obligations by submitting my written report to the Council. This action demonstrates my commitment to transparency and accountability to the Navajo people.
While discussions regarding the necessity of a subpoena have arisen, it is important to clarify that my submission of the report satisfies the statutory requirements without the need for my physical presence at this time. It is crucial to respect the balance of powers within our tribal governance structure and to approach such balance thoughtfully.
Through our enduring treaties with the U.S. government, I remain dedicated to protecting jobs, preserving and increasing revenue for our communities, and expanding new opportunities for the Navajo Nation. My allegiance will always lie with the Navajo people, and I am committed to ensuring that our voices are represented and heard at every level of government.
I appreciate the understanding of the Council and the Navajo people as we navigate these critical matters together. I look forward to continuing our work in service to the Nation.
Thank you.
