Great news from Baahaalii! The Baahaalii Senior Center has successfully completed construction on its long-anticipated building extension—an important milestone in expanding services and improving care for local elders.

The center is currently awaiting inspection approval from the Office of Environmental Health and Protection Program. Once cleared, the new addition will provide men’s and women’s shower rooms, a laundry room, a utility room, and additional storage space—enhancements designed to better meet the daily needs of elders who rely on the center.

“These improvements reflect our responsibility to care for our elders with dignity and respect,” said Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren. “Our senior centers are places of connection, nourishment, and community, and we will continue to support efforts that strengthen services for our elders.”

Senior centers play a vital role in the lives of many elders, offering hot meals, a welcoming place to gather, and a way to stay connected with their communities and local news.

Special recognition goes to Supervisor Cynthia and her dedicated team for their hard work and commitment to going above and beyond for our elders—especially for ensuring warm meals and fresh tortillas are always available, making every visit feel like home.

We look forward to the inspection’s completion and to opening these new services soon, as we continue building strong, supportive spaces that honor and uplift our elders.
