Five Navajo citizens graduated Dec. 5 from the Yideeską́ądi Hózhǫ́ǫ́jí Center in Phoenix. The milestone highlights culturally grounded, whole-person treatment that blends behavioral health care with Diné healing, resilience, and hope.

Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren and First Lady Jasmine Nygren met Olympians Connor Mantz and Clayton Young at BYU’s Creamery, sharing stories of discipline, Diné running traditions, and plans to inspire Navajo youth through sport.

Nine recruits graduated as Class 61 of the Navajo Police Training Academy on Dec. 5, completing 26 weeks of training. President Buu Nygren honored the new officers, noting their service strengthens public safety, trust, and sovereignty across the Nation.

President Buu Nygren announced a reconciliation with Navajo Nation Controller Sean McCabe, calling it a good-faith effort to restore stability. Nygren rejected claims of wrongdoing, criticized ongoing legislative conflict, and warned of budget flaws that may require a veto.

President Nygren has appointed former Chief Justice JoAnn Jayne as Deputy Attorney General. Jayne, a veteran judge and attorney with deep Navajo roots, brings extensive legal, judicial, and water-rights experience to strengthen the Nation’s justice system.

President Nygren met with the County Supervisors Association of Arizona to address regional priorities, clarify public concerns about a proposed data center, and congratulate Alton Joe Shepherd as the new CSA president. Leaders emphasized collaboration and clear communication.
