President Buu Nygren meets with Window Rock Fighting Scouts

FORT DEFIANCE, Ariz. — Earlier this week, Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren met with the graduating senior class of Window Rock High School to offer words of encouragement as many apply for scholarships and internship programs, while they prepare for college, trade schools, or the military.

The president expressed his optimism for the future of the Navajo Nation and tasked every student to learn, read, and listen.

“You all here are the future leaders we need and it is my honest feeling that one of you may become president one day, a council delegate, or one of our community leaders,” shared President Nygren. “Vice President Montoya and I believe in you, just as much as your parents, grandparents, and families do. Be strong, study hard, stay committed, and never let anyone count you out.”

As part of a three-month tour of high schools across Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah, the president continues to meet with student councils, school administrators, counselors, and the Navajo Nation Office of Financial Assistance and Scholarships to improve access to resources and information for all students.

The next school visits on the agenda include: Ganado High School, Navajo Pine High School, Fort Wingate High School, Bread Springs Day School, Jefferson Elementary School, Tuba City High School, Monument Valley High School, and more.
