WINDOW ROCK, Navajo Nation — Donations of coats, beanies, blankets and other winter clothing items are being requested from the general public to assist unsheltered relatives in partnership with domestic violence organization Strengthening Nations.
“We are teaming-up with Strengthening Nations to help provide much-needed relief to our unsheltered relatives who might be struggling in the winter weather,” said Navajo Nation First Lady Jasmine Blackwater-Nygren. “In this winter weather, any donation you can provide will be accepted for our relatives that need immediate relief.”
Donations can be dropped off at:
- The Navajo Nation Office of the First Lady located in Window Rock at the Office of the President and Vice President building.
- Strengthening Nations Headquarters at 1800 Red Rock Drive, Gallup, NM.
Monetary donations for this effort may also be sent to Strengthening Nations Inc., a non-governmental non-profit organization that provides supportive services and advocacy at no cost to individuals affected by domestic violence and others. Strengthening Nations’ online donation portal, managed entirely by their staff, can be found at: www.strengtheningnations.org/shop
The partnership is supported by the Office of the President and Vice President through staff dedicated to building collaboration among organizations that help Diné relatives.
“We can all provide crucial relief from the cold weather to our unsheltered relatives who are at their most vulnerable right now,” said John Tsosie, staff assistant to President Buu Nygren. “You can provide help through this effort or wherever the need exists.”
