FLAGSTAFF, AZ — Navajo Nation President Nygren joined students, families, and tribal leaders at Northern Arizona University in recognition of the 31st Annual Indigenous Celebration, honoring the achievements of Indigenous graduates as many have now walked the stage and completed this important milestone.
Held at NAU’s Ardrey Memorial Auditorium, the annual celebration highlighted the dedication, resilience, and academic success of Indigenous students preparing for graduation. Families, parents, tribal leaders, university staff, and students gathered in support, as Indigenous faculty and leadership recognized graduates for their accomplishments and the journeys that brought them to this moment.
The program included a land acknowledgment honoring the ancestral homelands at the base of the San Francisco Peaks—sacred to Indigenous Nations throughout the region—recognizing the past, present, and future generations who have called the land home.
During the visit, President Nygren connected with students and attendees, congratulating graduates and acknowledging the strong presence of Navajo Nation students among those being honored. He recognized the commitment and perseverance it takes to reach graduation and encouraged students to carry their education forward in service to their communities.
As commencement ceremonies conclude, the Navajo Nation proudly celebrates these graduates—recognizing not only their academic achievements, but the strength, culture, and determination they carry forward. The Navajo Nation extends its congratulations to all graduates and looks ahead with pride to the impact they will make for generations to come.
