LAS VEGAS — Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren attended the Native American 40 Under 40 Awards during the Reservation Economic Summit (RES), which recognizes emerging Indigenous leaders who are shaping the future of their communities across Indian Country.
Hosted by the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development, the prestigious awards honor 40 Native American leaders under the age of 40 for their leadership, service, and impact in tribal nations, business, and public service.
President Nygren, a previous recipient of the 40 Under 40 honor, reflected on the significance of the recognition and the responsibility that comes with it. He joined this year’s celebration to support and uplift the next generation of leaders who are driving change and strengthening their respective communities.
During the event, President Nygren shared words of encouragement with this year’s honorees, acknowledging their dedication and the meaningful work they are doing to improve the lives of their people.
“The work you are doing matters,” President Nygren said. “Each of you represents progress, resilience, and the future of our Nations. Keep leading, keep serving, and continue making an impact in your communities.”
He also expressed appreciation to the recipients for their commitment to creating opportunities and advancing positive change across Indian Country.
The Native American 40 Under 40 Awards continue to serve as a powerful platform, recognizing leaders whose work today is shaping a stronger tomorrow.
Navajo inductees include Michael Charles, Trish Chee, Joshua Emerson, Nicole Johnny, and Dr. Souksavanh Keovorabouth.
