The Copper State Championship atmosphere was electric from the start. Green filled the arena, chants of “DEFENSE!” echoed throughout the coliseum, and two elite programs stepped onto the floor ready to compete.
Snowflake opened the game with strong defensive pressure and early baskets to set the tone. Tuba City answered with confidence, knocking down key shots and attacking the rim to keep the game tight. After one quarter, Snowflake led 13–9, but the Warriors were firmly within striking distance.
In the second quarter, Snowflake extended its lead with back-to-back three-pointers, creating separation. Tuba City responded the way championship teams do — with composure and resilience. The Lady Warriors forced turnovers, capitalized at the free-throw line, and hit a clutch three-pointer just before halftime to make it a one-point game, 30–29.
The second half became a back-and-forth battle. Tuba City came out focused, taking its first lead and raising its defensive intensity. Every possession carried weight. Snowflake continued to respond, and the third quarter closed with the Lobos narrowly ahead, 45–42.
The fourth quarter defined the night.
Tuba City elevated its defensive pressure, created timely steals, and attacked the basket with confidence. In the final minutes, with the crowd on its feet and the championship hanging in the balance, the Warriors delivered at the free-throw line and executed in critical moments. Calm, disciplined, and united, they sealed the victory.
Final Score: Tuba City 59, Snowflake 54.
With this win, the Tuba City Lady Warriors capture the Copper State Championship — a title recognizing the top teams across Arizona’s 1A–3A divisions. They close their remarkable season at 27–3 overall and 11–1 in region play, a true reflection of their commitment, discipline, and trust in one another.
We also want to commend the Snowflake Lady Lobos for an outstanding and hard-fought matchup. They competed with heart, toughness, and determination, making this championship game everything it was meant to be.
This victory reflects more than talent — it reflects preparation, sacrifice, and pride. The Lady Warriors represented Tuba City and the Navajo Nation with strength and honor on one of the biggest stages in high school basketball.
Moments like this make the Navajo Nation incredibly proud. Our student-athletes continue to demonstrate excellence, resilience, and leadership, inspiring the next generation to dream big and compete with purpose.
Congratulations, Lady Warriors.
You carried your community with you — and you brought the Copper title home.
