My Navajo People,

On Wednesday Feb. 11, I was made aware that Indigenous Design Studio + Architecture, LLC (IDSA) filed a lawsuit against ZenniHome, LLC in Maricopa County Superior Court.

As many of you know, IDSA received approximately $24 million from the Navajo Nation – and then subcontracted ZenniHome – to build and deliver homes to our Navajo people.

Those homes were not delivered. In the lawsuit, IDSA claims that ZenniHome misspent the money that was provided to ZenniHome by IDSA.

The Navajo Nation Department of Justice stated in a Feb. 11 press release that it “is working aggressively to pursue remedies against IDSA and ZenniHome.”

I commend the Navajo Nation Department of Justice as it aggressively pursues all available remedies to recover funds and protect the Nation’s interests.

One of the focuses of my administration has been on providing housing for our Navajo people. I want our government to focus on protecting Navajo people, protecting Navajo resources, and making sure our communities are not left with broken promises.

My administration will continue to take decisive action to safeguard public funds and ensure future housing projects are built on transparency, performance, and trust.
