TUBA CITY, Ariz. — President Nygren joined Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation leadership on Jan. 30, along with board members, chapter officials, tribal leaders, and state representatives to celebrate the grand opening of the Blue Canyon Apartments, a new 48-unit staff housing project for TCRHCC employees.
TCRHCC leaders said limited housing continues to affect the recruitment and retention of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in rural communities.
The Blue Canyon Apartments include one- and two-bedroom units and short-stay “hotel-style” units, helping employees secure stable local housing, reduce commute times, and build stronger connections in the community they serve.
President Nygren emphasized that projects like this directly strengthen healthcare services by supporting the workforce that shows up for patients every day.
“Today is more than a building, it’s about commitment, it’s about collaboration, and it’s about care, and it’s for the people who care for our people,” President Nygren said.
President Nygren also thanked the partners who helped make the development possible, including financing from Bank of Oklahoma and the work of architects, contractors, and local Navajo workers who brought the project from vision to reality.
Looking ahead, President Nygren reaffirmed his commitment to continue working with TCRHCC leadership and partners to advance future staff housing projects, including the planned 92-unit Echo Cliffs development, and to help resolve ongoing infrastructure and land lease needs to keep housing and healthcare projects moving forward.
