To My Navajo People:

I am aware that several Chapter officials have passed resolutions calling for my removal or resignation. I respect the right of our local leaders to voice their concerns. However, I believe much of this reaction is based on misinformation that continues to circulate on social media. I encourage everyone to seek out facts and engage in respectful dialogue rooted in our shared values and teachings.

It is important to note that many of the same individuals who spearheaded the “Recall Buu Nygren” effort are behind these calls for removal now— and they are repeating the same divisive tactics. Furthermore, those who continue to spread misinformation are the very individuals seeking the Navajo Presidency. Shame on them for deceiving the Navajo people. I urge them to do the right thing – run for office in 280 days and seek the presidency with honesty and integrity.

Let me remind the Navajo people that the President of the Navajo Nation is an elected position chosen by all our people. Council Delegates are elected within specific regions and represent limited constituencies. But as your President, I was chosen by the voice of the entire Navajo Nation.

You entrusted me with this responsibility, and I will honor that trust. I will not resign, and I will stand firm against any effort to remove me. Your vote is sacred, and I will continue to defend the will of the Navajo people.

My commitment to the Navajo people remains firm. I will continue to serve with transparency, accountability, and a deep respect for the trust you have placed in me.

Our future depends on unity—and I remain hopeful that we can rise above division and focus on what truly matters – our people. Thank you to all who pray for me. Your prayers give me strength and allow me to continue this work on your behalf.

Dr. Buu Nygren, Navajo Nation President
