TUBA CITY, Ariz. – Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren joined parents, grandparents, and community leaders in honoring the joy and energy that children bring to everyday life. From the playful excitement of games and cultural performances to the warmth of shared meals and stories, Kids Day reflected what it means to come together as one Diné family.
The event celebrated the happiness, creativity, and curiosity of Navajo youth by using informational booths that provided resources for them.
“This is what community looks like,” President Nygren said. “When we gather to lift up our children, we are also strengthening our families, our culture, and our identity as Navajo people.”
President Nygren also shared his vision to continue expanding youth opportunities, from new playgrounds and safe recreation areas to language and leadership programs that help young people stay connected to who they are. His administration is working to build spaces that allow every child to learn, play, and dream in a safe, supportive environment.
He emphasized that investing in children is more than a goal – It’s a promise.
“Every time we celebrate our kids,” he said, “we’re celebrating the future of the Navajo Nation, one filled with strength, kindness, and unity.”
The day was made possible through the partnership of the Navajo Office of Diné Youth, Division of Children and Family Services, and the Tuba City community, whose dedication and teamwork brought the event to life. From laughter echoing across the fairgrounds to families walking hand in hand, Kids Day was a powerful reminder that when the Nation cares for the children, they honor the generations before and after them.
President Nygren closed by thanking everyone who helped make this day unforgettable, for bringing communities and schools together in laughter, tradition, and love.
