DECLARING MAY 18 TO 24, 2025

Navajo Nation Emergency Medical Service Week

The Navajo Nation proclaims May 18 – 24, 2025 as the NAVAJO NATION EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE WEEK. The National campaign is endorsed by the American College of Emergency Physicians and National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians to direct attention to the importance of emergency response in saving precious lives.

WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are a vital public service; and

WHEREAS, serving as the safety net of the Navajo Nation’s health care system, the members of emergency medical service teams are ready to provide life-saving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and

WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and

WHEREAS, emergency medical service teams consist of EMT Recruits, Emergency Medical Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, Supervisors, Field Operations Managers, EMT Instructors/Coordinators, Support Staff and Administrators; and

WHEREAS, the families of the emergency medical service care team endure endless sacrifice and continuous support for their loved ones while their loved ones are performing their duties to save lives; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of emergency medical service clinicians by designating Navajo Nation Emergency Medical Service Week; now

THEREFORE, I, Dr. Buu Nygren, President of the Navajo Nation, do hereby proclaim May 18 – 24, 2025, as Navajo Nation Emergency Medical Service Week with the theme, “WE CARE. FOR EVERYONE.” We encourage the Navajo Nation to observe this week to pay tribute to our Emergency Medical Service professionals, whose selfless dedication and extraordinary efforts help save countless lives each day.
