If you are affected by the storms, have a power outage, or need emergency assistance – please call Navajo Nation Emergency Command at (928) 814-0604.

This evening, the regions of Shiprock, Sanostee, Tohatchi, Twin Lakes, Crownpoint, Mexican Hat, Bluff, Aneth and Montezuma Creek have been affected.

The timeframe of expected power outages is until Sunday, but repairs to electric lines will happen when road conditions improve and storms pass the Navajo Nation this week.

Department of Emergency Management (DEM) Acting Director Rory Atcitty is coordinating efforts with several Navajo Nation First Responders. Storms are being monitored and are expected to clear by midnight tonight.

Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA) is establishing a mobile substation and expects to be active as soon as possible.  Power is expected to be resolved by Sunday, however if conditions change, updates will be communicated by the President.

DEM will also work with Navajo Department of Transportation (NDOT), and surrounding road departments. The Division of Public Safety (NNDPS) and law enforcement agencies are coordinating & monitoring roadways for any emergencies.

Road wash outs and similar conditions are expected in some areas, so the public is urged to not cross flowing waterways caused by monsoon weather.

Chapter CERT and communtiy health representatives (CHR) will begin reporting to local NNDPS Districts if they experience any road issues, assist stranded citizens, and will report immobilized vehicles.

NTUA is responding to power outages immediately, including electric outages across Northern, Eastern, and Utah Navajo. Linemen crews will continue to work this weekend to restore power and the public is asked to be patient. NTUA is working to get temporary power back to the grid for Navajo families.
