PHOENIX — Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren and First Lady Jasmine Blackwater-Nygren were welcomed into the Senate Chambers by House Speaker Ben Toma and Senate President Warren Petersen. The 25th Navajo Nation Council and 22 Tribal Nations were represented for the start of the Joint Protocol Session.
The President visited with tribal leaders and state lawmakers to advocate for the basic needs of native communities across the Southwest.
Priorities discussed included the need for clean water access, infrastructure development, allocating resources for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives movement, construction of new roads and rehabilitation centers, and investing in elderly senior homes.
