WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – On March 15, the Kirtland Central Girls Basketball Team won 2024 New Mexico Class 4A State Championship.

The team and coaches visited the Office of the President and Vice President and met with Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren in the Stateroom reminiscing the win.

The players were issued Certificates of Presidential Recognition, along with commemorative items from President Nygren, and students were able to take selfies and photos with the President as a memento of their visit.

Kirtland Central girls’ basketball team conquered St. Pius 45-33 to secure the Class 4A title game. The Broncos, who have been the top seed in Class 4A for the third straight season.

This is the second time they won the championship in three years.

This title marks the 21st win in their history, making the Broncos as one of the top girls’ basketball programs in the country ranking ninth overall for most championships in the sport.
