SHIPROCK, N.M. – A journey that began with a high school sports injury has come full circle for Dr. Tanisha K. Begay, D.C., with the opening of Hózhó Wellness & Chiropractic LLC, bringing a new option for chiropractic care, relief, and wellness to Shiprock and surrounding communities.
While playing sports for the Shiprock Chieftains, Tanisha experienced a serious back injury that introduced her to chiropractic care and physical therapy. That experience eventually helped shape her career path.
After exploring athletic training and physical therapy, her direction changed while working in a chiropractic office in Phoenix. There, she witnessed firsthand the difference compassionate, patient-centered care could make. Inspired by that experience, she enrolled in chiropractic school in Dallas in 2022 and graduated in December 2025.
Now, Tanisha has brought her education, experience, and passion home.
“I really value patient-centered care here, and serving my own community is my priority,” said Tanisha. “Hopefully, if you come stressed, you leave blessed.”
For Tanisha, opening Hózhó Wellness is about more than starting a business. It is an opportunity to serve her community, build relationships with patients, and create a place where people are treated as people first.
Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren joined Tanisha’s family, friends, mentors, and community members for the ribbon cutting and praised her commitment to returning home and investing in her community.
President Nygren also committed to helping Hózhó Wellness pursue placement on the Navajo Nation provider list, potentially expanding access for thousands of Navajo Nation employees and participating enterprise employees.
With its doors now open, people throughout Shiprock and surrounding communities have another place close to home to seek chiropractic care, relief, healing, and wellness.
Hózhó Wellness & Chiropractic is located at the Tse’ Bit’Ai Shopping Center in Shiprock.
