WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – For 34 years, Yazzie served the Navajo Nation in the Public Safety division as a Police Radio Dispatcher, Evidence Technician, Police Officer, and Criminal Investigator.

“We are saddened to hear one of our very own former police officers passing on,” said President Nygren. “Former officer Yazzie put in countless hours, days, and years into protecting the families who needed him and protecting our nation.”

Yazzie was 70 and passed away on Jun. 9.

Yazzie is Kinłichiinii and was born in Tábaahi. His parents were Chee and Marie Stoney Yazzie from Dennehotso.

Yazzie leaves behind his wife, two sons, a daughter, four grandsons, and his nalí.

The Yazzie family will have a memorial service on Jun. 14 at 10 A.M. at the Kayenta Recreation Park. Donations are being accepted through Zelle at (928)380-2800.
