The Navajo Department of Emergency Management is currently coordinating three rescue operations, with Emergency Medical Services supporting response and transportation efforts as needed.
Water levels in the affected area have begun to subside, while Chinle Chapter personnel continue work on the earthen dam.
As response operations continue, Chinle Chapter House is being evaluated as a potential emergency shelter location, as the Many Farms facility is currently unavailable for sheltering.
The Navajo Nation Commission on Emergency Management has a scheduled meeting to discuss next steps and any additional resources or actions that may be needed. The Navajo Division of Transportation is also on standby to provide additional coordination and support as conditions require.
President Nygren asks residents to continue exercising caution, avoid flooded roads and washes, and give first responders and emergency personnel room to safely conduct operations.
