KAYENTA — Navajo Nation President Nygren was honored to recognize Senior Police Officer JoDonna Salt as she concluded a distinguished career with the Navajo Police Department after more than 20 years of dedicated service to the Navajo Nation.
Throughout her career, Officer Salt faithfully served the communities of Kayenta, Black Mesa, Monument Valley, Navajo Mountain, and surrounding areas, earning the trust and respect of community members, fellow officers, educators, students, and families.
Raised in the Kayenta and Black Mesa areas, Officer Salt spent her career serving the people and communities she calls home. Her commitment to public safety extended far beyond law enforcement duties. As a School Resource Officer, she became a familiar and trusted presence in schools across the region, mentoring students, building positive relationships, and helping young people navigate challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
Known for her professionalism, calm demeanor, and compassionate approach, Officer Salt earned a reputation as a leader who balanced strength with kindness. Whether responding to emergencies, assisting families in need, or supporting youth, she consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to serving others.
President Nygren praised Officer Salt for the lasting impact she has made across the Navajo Nation.
“Officer Salt, your service has made a difference. The impact of your work cannot be measured simply by years of service or titles earned. It can be seen in the students you inspired, the families you helped, the communities you protected, and the respect you earned from those around you,” said President Nygren.
Officer Salt achieved the rank of Senior Police Officer during her career and became a respected figure throughout the Kayenta District. Her work helped strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve, while her dedication to youth left a lasting impression on countless students throughout the region.
While her chapter with the Navajo Police Department has come to a close, her commitment to public service continues. Officer Salt will begin a new role with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, carrying forward the same values of service, integrity, and professionalism that defined her career on the Navajo Nation.
