COTTONWOOD — Navajo Nation President Nygren joined community members Wednesday evening for the Just Move It event at Cottonwood Day School in the Chinle Service Unit, continuing his support for healthy living and wellness initiatives across the Navajo Nation.
Families, runners, walkers, elders, youth, healthcare workers, and volunteers gathered for an evening focused on fitness, community engagement, and encouraging healthier lifestyles. President Nygren spent time with participants, visited with community members, and witnessed firsthand the positive impact Just Move It continues to have throughout the Navajo Nation.
One of the highlights of the evening was the dedication shown by healthcare workers, volunteers, and event staff who closely monitored participants during the warm summer conditions. Staff ensured runners and walkers had access to water throughout the event and remained attentive to signs of heat-related illness. Their efforts served as an important reminder that staying hydrated, taking breaks when needed, and listening to your body are essential when participating in outdoor activities during the summer months.
“Just Move It continues to bring our communities together in a positive way,” said President Nygren. “It’s encouraging to see so many people making their health a priority while supporting one another and enjoying time together.”
The Just Move It program remains an important wellness initiative that promotes physical activity, healthy living, and community outreach throughout the Navajo Nation. Events are hosted in partnership with local chapters, healthcare facilities, and community organizations to encourage healthier lifestyles for people of all ages.
Residents interested in participating in future Just Move It events can contact their local healthcare facility for event schedules and registration information.
