GALLUP, N.M. – Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren joined cancer survivors, families, caregivers, and community members at the annual Relay For Life event in Gallup on June 13, showing support for those affected by cancer and the ongoing efforts to raise awareness and funding for cancer research.
Throughout the event, President Nygren interacted with attendees and watched as handbags and other items were auctioned to help raise funds for Relay For Life and its mission to support individuals and families impacted by cancer.
One of the evening’s most meaningful displays featured luminaria bags, each bearing the name of a loved one who had battled cancer. The bags served as a tribute to those who have passed, a celebration of survivors, and a reminder of the families and communities forever impacted by the disease.
Relay For Life continues to unite communities through hope, remembrance, and action, honoring those affected by cancer while supporting efforts to find a cure.
