WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — Investing in Navajo youth is one of the most important ways to build a stronger and more prosperous future for the Navajo Nation. By expanding educational opportunities, supporting student well-being, and strengthening pathways to success, the Navajo Nation continues to advance key priorities of the Nygren Administration, including education, health and social wellness, and government partnerships that directly benefit local communities.

“Education is one of our highest priorities, and this investment helps ensure our youth have access to the opportunities and support they need to succeed,” said President Nygren. “By providing reliable transportation, we are removing barriers and helping more students participate in programs that build leadership, confidence, and a brighter future.”

To support these efforts, the Navajo Nation has awarded $63,631 to Elevate Navajo through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Navajo Nation Fiscal Recovery Funds for the Elevate Navajo Youth program. The funding will be used to purchase a 12-passenger Ford Transit van, helping ensure students have reliable transportation to participate in educational, leadership, mentoring, and community-based activities.

Transportation remains a significant barrier for many Navajo families. The new vehicle will allow more students to access accredited leadership, life skills, character development, and community engagement classes offered through Elevate Navajo.

The Elevate Navajo youth program serves approximately 50 Window Rock Independent School district high school students, 20 middle school students, and 100 elementary students annually. Additional services include mentoring, adventure-based learning, college and career planning, parent and caregiver workshops, and community events designed to strengthen family engagement.
