WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren is congratulating Dr. Delores Greyeyes following her appointment as the new Executive Director of the Navajo Division of Public Safety on May 5, 2026.

“True leadership in public safety means standing firm in difficult times while never losing sight of the people we serve,” Dr. Greyeyes said.

Dr. Greyeyes brings decades of public safety service through the planning, design, and construction of judicial and public safety centers that improve services for the Navajo people. These facilities include space for judicial courts, probation services, and peacemaking programs, as well as public safety buildings that support police investigations, corrections, and related services.

Throughout her career, Dr. Greyeyes has focused on strengthening the criminal justice system by creating a “one-stop” service approach for Navajo communities. Her work supports rehabilitation efforts that are critically needed across the Navajo Nation, helping provide coordinated services that promote safety, healing, accountability, and community well-being.

A longtime social worker and public servant, Dr. Greyeyes earned her Ph.D. in Social and Criminal Justice from Arizona State University in 2015 after also receiving her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from ASU.

“Dr. Delores Greyeyes brings experience, professionalism, and a deep understanding of our communities to this role,” President Nygren said. “She has dedicated many years to serving the Navajo people and understands the importance of protecting our communities while also building stronger systems rooted in accountability, compassion, and public trust. She will be a tremendous asset to the Division of Public Safety and to the Navajo Nation as a whole.”

President Nygren said the administration looks forward to working alongside Dr. Greyeyes as the Division of Public Safety continues efforts to strengthen emergency response services, law enforcement support, detention operations, public safety infrastructure, and community safety initiatives across the Navajo Nation.

Please join President Nygren in congratulating Dr. Delores Greyeyes on her new leadership role.
