RAMAH — On April 30th, Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren proudly signed Resolution No. CAP-27-26 into law, securing $7,423,149.02 from the Síhasin Fund for a new Ramah Navajo Senior Citizens Center.

This action amends Resolution CO-43-24 (Senior Center Upgrade Project Listing) to correct an important omission: the Ramah Navajo Senior Center was not originally included among the facilities designated to receive funding. With this amendment, Ramah elders are now officially on the list and will receive the support they deserve.

“These funds ensure our elders in Ramah are not overlooked and receive the care, respect, and support they deserve,” said President Nygren. “This new senior center will provide a safe place for connection, wellness, and community for generations to come.”

The funds will be administered through the Navajo Nation Division of Aging and Long-Term Care Support and will support the planning, design, and construction of a new facility for the Ramah community.

The new senior center will provide space for meals, wellness checks, cultural events, community gatherings, and access to health and support services for elders.

President Nygren also commended Delegate Norman Begay, the Resources and Development Committee, Health, Education and Human Services Committee, Budget and Finance Committee, and Naabik’íyáti’ Committee for their support and continued commitment to Navajo elders.

By signing CAP-27-26 into law, we are affirming our responsibility to honor our elders best by caring for them in real, concrete ways. Let’s continue the ongoing work for the Navajo Nation as a whole.
