From the football fields of Shiprock to the bright lights of college football, Shiyazh Pete has continued to push forward with strength, discipline, and heart.

A proud product of Shiprock High School, Pete built his foundation close to home before rising to the collegiate level. After four seasons at New Mexico State, he elevated his game even further with the University of Kentucky in 2025, proving he can compete at one of the highest levels in college football. Standing tall and commanding the line, Pete has become known for his size, toughness, and relentless work ethic.

And let’s be real, he’s a big Navajo out there on that football field, holding it down in the trenches and representing our people every snap.

Though he went undrafted, he was signed as a free agent by the Dallas Cowboys, marking not the end but the start of the next chapter.

“Shiyazh Pete represents more than football. He represents where he comes from, the work it takes to get here, and the pride of our people. Moments like this show our young people what’s possible when you stay committed,” said Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren.

From Diné Bikéyah to the national stage, keep going, keep grinding. The path is still wide open.
