WINDOW ROCK — Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren joined families from across the Navajo Nation at the Navajo Nation Zoo for the annual Easter Eggstravaganza, a heartfelt community celebration presented by the Office of Miss Navajo Nation and the Navajo Nation Zoo.
The day began early as community members gathered at 7 a.m. for an Easter run and walk, setting the tone for a day centered on health, togetherness, and celebration. President Nygren welcomed attendees, sharing reflections on the meaning of Easter and the importance of spending time with family. He emphasized the value of creating lasting memories and reminded families how blessed they are to have their children and loved ones by their side.
Children and families of all ages filled the grounds, joined by a strong and vibrant presence of Navajo Nation royalty proudly dressed in traditional attire. Throughout the day, President Nygren took part in activities alongside community members, engaging with families and sharing in the spirit of the celebration.
Laughter and excitement carried across the zoo as families participated in games such as cornhole and egg tosses, leading up to the most anticipated moment of the day—the Easter egg hunt. Children raced across the grounds in search of colorful eggs, with hopes of discovering the prized golden egg, creating a scene filled with joy, energy, and unforgettable smiles.
The celebration continued into the afternoon with Navajo trivia, prize giveaways, and closing remarks that brought the event to a meaningful conclusion. From the early morning run to the final moments of the day, the Easter Eggstravaganza created a welcoming space where families could come together, celebrate the season, and strengthen the bonds that carry the Navajo Nation forward.
President Nygren expressed his gratitude to the Office of Miss Navajo Nation, the Navajo Nation Zoo, and all organizers and volunteers who made the event possible, recognizing their efforts in creating an experience that uplifted families and honored the importance of community.
“This is what it’s all about—our families, our children, and the memories we create together,” said President Nygren. “Events like this remind us of the strength of our communities and the importance of coming together to celebrate life and one another.”
