Despite having no operating budget for this effort, President Nygren found a way to do something meaningful across the Navajo Nation. This was made possible through generous sponsors who provided the turkeys, ensuring families received support during this Thanksgiving season.
On November 24, turkey distributions went exceptionally well as community representatives fanned out across the Nation to deliver support to families. From early morning to sunset, teams worked tirelessly to ensure households received a Thanksgiving meal and a reminder that they are cared for.
President Buu Nygren expressed his appreciation for everyone who made the effort a success. He thanked the sponsors whose donations made the distributions possible, and he recognized the community representatives for being out in the field, going door-to-door and meeting families where they are.
“This is cool,” President Nygren said, reflecting on the meaning behind the effort. “Bringing families together through this simple act is our way of saying thank you. It’s our way of reminding our people that we care.”
The President emphasized that these distributions are about more than holiday support; they symbolize unity, gratitude, and the strength of Diné values.
More updates are on the way as additional deliveries continue across the Navajo Nation. A second post will highlight the next round of distributions and the many hands working together to make this Thanksgiving season meaningful for families.
