On this Veterans Day, we pay tribute to all who have served our nation — and we give special recognition especially to our Navajo veterans. Native Americans, including Navajos, have always answered the call to service at some of the highest rates per capita of any group in the U.S.
From the legendary Navajo Code Talkers of World War II — whose unbreakable language helped secure victory — to the thousands of Native American men and women who continue to serve today, our Native warriors have long upheld a deep tradition of protecting our people, our homeland and our traditions.
Our Navajo warriors embody the spirit of service, honor, and resilience that define our Nation. Their legacy reminds us that the Diné people have always stood ready to defend our way of life, our families, and our freedom — both here at home and across the world.
Today, we also honor the families of our veterans, whose love, prayers, and strength sustain our warriors through every challenge. Their sacrifices are a vital part of our story of service.
To every veteran, and especially to those from the Navajo Nation and Native communities across the country, we honor your courage, sacrifice, and enduring commitment to freedom.
From the Navajo Nation Office of the President and President Buu Nygren, we thank you for your service!
