To my fellow Navajo people – Happy Navajo New Year!

As the air begins to change, we enter a sacred time—our Navajo New Year. Our people have recognized this as the start of a new cycle, following the harvest, when the hard work of the year gave way to rest, renewal, and preparation for the future. This time calls us to pause and honor the journey – to reflect on how far we have come, recognize where we are today and to look ahead with purpose and hope.

As required by tribal law, I have submitted a written State of the Nation report to the Navajo Nation Council for this week’s Fall Council Session. However, I will not be attending the session due to the active lawsuit filed against me by Speaker Curley.

It is unfortunate that time and energy are being spent on this lawsuit, especially when we have just 15 months remaining in our terms. This is a critical period—not for division, but for progress. Now more than ever, we must set aside our differences and focus on what truly matters – serving the Navajo people. Our time in office is limited, and our responsibility is great. Let us use the time we have left to work together, find common ground, and build a stronger future for our Nation.

Our people deserve leadership grounded in unity, respect, and purpose. My commitment to the Navajo people remains unwavering. I will continue to do the work you entrusted me to do—with transparency, accountability, and dedication to our Nation’s future.
