Early this morning, I ensured that the Judicial Branch is adequately funded in the FY2026 Comprehensive Budget by signing CS-45-25.
In the spirit of cooperation, I also restored over half a million dollars to the Legislative Branch for the FY2026 comprehensive budget through Resolution No. CS-45-25.
I continue to line item veto part of the Legislative Branch’s funding because the Navajo Nation Council has not yet adequately funded the Executive Branch for the 2026 fiscal year, which began on October 1.
For more information on how the Council can adequately fund the Executive Branch, please review proposed Legislation 0224-25.
The Council can act on Legislation 0224-25 at any point, including at Council’s Fall session in two weeks. If Council acts to fund Executive Branch programs and offices identified in Legislation 0224-25, I am confident we can wrap up the FY2026 Comprehensive Budget in a matter of weeks.
