WINDOW ROCK — During and after his leadership meeting with the 25th Navajo Nation Council, President Buu Nygren expressed continued optimism that the Council will provide adequate funding for the Executive Branch.

“I’m thankful that the Navajo Nation Council has provided funding for the Judicial Branch. I believe my line-item veto ensured that the Judicial Branch would receive adequate funding for FY2026, and I remain hopeful it will also help secure adequate funding for the Executive Branch, so that all three branches can continue serving our people effectively and in balance,” said President Nygren.

In direct response to concerns raised by Council Delegates, President Nygren reassigned Office of the President and Vice President staff to serve as liaisons to each of the Council’s standing committees. This action, he said, will strengthen communication and coordination between the Executive and Legislative branches.

“Council voiced concerns, and I responded immediately,” President Nygren said. “We will continue to listen and act, because our government only works when all three branches serve our people together.”
