SALT LAKE CITY — Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren and First Lady Jasmine Blackwater-Nygren met Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox at the Utah State Capitol as part of leadership meetings with Utah leadership.
In their introductory meeting, President Nygren and Governor Cox identified opportunities to pursue infrastructure that will promote economic development in the Utah portion of the Navajo Nation.
Earlier in the day, Navajo Nation leaders met with Utah State University leadership on their proposals for Monument Valley expansion.
Both President Nygren and Governor Cox found common ground in supporting educational and career technical opportunities for Navajo Utah citizens through the project. They also committed to identifying common priorities to both coordinate existing resources and establish new partnerships for the Utah portion of the Navajo Nation.
President Nygren and First Lady Blackwater-Nygren continued Tuesday and Wednesday with meetings at the Utah State Capitol alongside members of the Navajo Nation Council advocating for passage of H.B. 40 and other key initiatives impacting Navajo citizens.
